Changing the conversation about work and cancer

Testimonials

“

I was diagnosed with very advanced and invasive Breast Cancer in July 2021 and I met Anna in January 2024 through ‘Working with Cancer’ 1-2-1 Coaching for employees.

My chemo nurse recommended it because I was very worried about how I would manage the expectations at my work place, the change in the dynamic with my work colleagues and managers after my diagnosis. Facing having a new boss and feeling like starting a new job Anna was there for me every step of the way. She was so helpful and supportive. Anna is honestly one of the nicest and professional person I’ve ever met! She has endless enthusiasm and passion that is so obvious in the work that she does.

I am now almost 4 years post diagnosis and back to work and she helped me through my very challenging phased return and the problems I had to face on a daily basis. More recently she supported me through my flexible working request and I am happy to say that this was successful.

Anna is truly a hidden gem that needs to be recognised for all the amazing work that she does!

I am very glad I came across your organisation and feel fortunate to have a referral to Jo. Working with Jo, I have negotiated reduced hours to cope with the impact of my cancer treatment. I am lucky to have a very understanding employer, but even then it has not been an easy process – by the time I realised I needed to make a change I was so exhausted I was struggling to think straight. Jo’s clear insight, professionalism and calm wisdom was a gift at a challenging time. It was invaluable to speak with Jo and she is a truly inspiring coach.

As I recently completed my final coaching session with Working With Cancer, I wanted to take time to thank-you for your time, energy, wisdom and kindness.

You created the safest of spaces for me to share my fears, explore and understand my symptoms, and rebuild a new approach to work and life in general. Looking back on the year I can’t believe how far we have come. And I am sure that without your support I would not be in such a good place. I certainly would not have been able to contribute to the DEI team’s work and through them to Worley’s success.

Louise, I want to particularly thank-you for the skills and courage needed to gently challenge my most stubborn of patterns and behaviours that were not helping me to recover. I know this level of coaching has laid down some new skills that I will rely heavily on for the months and years ahead. Thank-you for being at my side this past year!

Fiona enabled me to achieve an excellent performance year, whilst practicing new techniques to enhance my wellbeing. I have reconnected to nature and have taken away several tips for wellbeing and good mental health.
