Working With Cancer Pledge

The Working With Cancer Pledge, launched by the Publicis Foundation in 2023, is a cross-industry movement to help erase the stigma of cancer in the workplace. Working With Cancer® and Macmillan Cancer Support were the main supporters of this campaign in the UK.
The pledge is based on a simple but powerful reality: one in two of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetime, and many people affected by cancer will continue working during or after treatment. Workplaces have an important role to play in making sure people feel supported, understood and able to talk openly about what they need.
The campaign film, Monday, shows the often difficult experience of people living with cancer and the vital importance of workplace support. Many of the crew behind the film are cancer survivors and carers themselves, bringing lived experience and authenticity to the campaign.
For organisations
Signing the pledge is an important first step. It shows your commitment to creating a more open, supportive and recovery-focused workplace for people affected by cancer.
Once you have taken the pledge, we can help you bring it to life through practical support, including:
- Cancer Coaching for employees and carers
- Training to help managers respond with confidence, empathy and care
- Consultancy and policy support
- Best Practice Guides and practical resources
