Stories of Cancer and Hope
It is estimated that 350,000 people are diagnosed with cancer each year, and over 3 million people are currently living
with the disease. Many feel isolated by their diagnosis and are unsure where to turn for help and emotional support.
Stories of Cancer and Hope features 39 personal stories of people affected by various types of cancer. It aims to tackle the loneliness and fear felt by those affected by the disease and to answer questions based on lived experiences of the contributors. Each storyteller highlights the issues, emotions and
reality of having, or being affected by, a wide range of cancers. Contributions come from all over the UK and feature inspirational stories of everyday people.
It was compiled by Kevin Donaghy, who is himself living with stage IV melanoma and was inspired by his own diagnosis, and subsequent treatment during the
COVID-19 pandemic, to help others know they aren’t alone.
